🌊 Conference & Cruise

❓Frequently Asked Questions

February 2–6, 2026

📍 Where is the cruise port?
  • Just outside of Orlando — Port Canaveral 🚢 We recommend flying in and out of Orlando (MCO).
  • You might not want to depend on flying in that day – since planes are often late, you could miss the cruise.

🚌 Is there transportation to/from the pier?
  • We recommend taking LYFT or UBER to and from the pier.

Getting From ATIA or other Orlando hotels before the cruise:
  • We looked into booking a shuttle bus.  It was going to be VERY expensive, and unless everyone booked it, would have been much more than getting an Uber/ Lyft, etc.  So everyone will need to get their own transportation from Orland to Port Canaveral.
  •  While the ship departs at 3:30 pm, you will want to get there earlier, as there typically are long lines for boarding.
Getting from the Cruise to the Airport on February 6.
  • Just as there are often long lines embarking, there will likely be long lines getting off the ship.  While it docks at 8 am, friends who cruise a lot say that it could take up to 2 hours to get off.  Add an hour and a half to get to the Orlando airport, and that would mean arriving about noon.
  • We are suggesting that you NOT book a flight that leaves before 2, or even 2:30 pm!!

Hotels/Accommodations
  •  If you need a place to stay Sunday night, February 1, please see the recommendation below.  This is just a personal recommendation – you might know a better / cheaper place!  Or you might want to book a place closer to Port Canaveral.  I have stayed at the Grand Beach Orlando many times, and love it!
Possible Hotel for Sunday, February 1, near ATIA:
  • Right now there are 8 rooms available (some are suites).    3 BR suites are very inexpensive!  Use our Facebook group to find roomies!  Click here for: link to actual booking site

👯 Can I bring a friend or my family?
  • Yes! Bring along friends or family to enjoy the cruise.

Do they have to register for the conference?
  • Nope! Only one person needs to register for the conference and book a cabin.
  • You can then reserve additional staterooms at the group rate.

🛳️ How do I book my cabin?
After registering for the conference:
📞 Call Carnival’s Group Department at 866-721-3225
📝 Use the Group Name: Literasea 2026
🔢 Booking #: DD13H0

💰 How much will the cruise cost?
HOLD your stateroom with a refundable $50 deposit!
You can pay the rest much later!
🚢 Cruise Rates (Per Person, Based on Double Occupancy):
  • 🌅 Balcony: $582 + taxes, insurance & WiFi
  • 🌊 Ocean View: $454 + taxes, insurance & WiFi
  • 🛏️ Inside Cabin: $409 + taxes, insurance & WiFi

🛏️ Can I book a single cabin?
  • You sure can! Just note: single occupancy = paying both halves of the room.
  • For example, an inside cabin ($409 per person) would be $818 total, plus taxes, insurance, & WiFi.

🎟️ How much is the conference?
  • 🐣 Early Bird (until May 15, 2025): $125
  • 📅 General Registration (until June 30): $175
  • ⏰ Late Registration (after July 1): $225

📌 Do you have a cap on the number of attendees?
  • There’s no cap for the cruise itself — the more, the merrier! 🎉
  • However, we’re considering a limit of 100 attendees for the conference sessions.

🤝 Will there be other planned activities for the group, or just the conference on the final day?
  • Yes! While the big conference is on the final day, we’re organizing fun, informal networking activities throughout the cruise.
  • These will be smaller meet-ups so everyone can enjoy shore leave too! 🏖️

🗓️ What kinds of small-group meet-ups are planned?
We’re planning a mix of casual and topic-focused gatherings, including:
🍽️ Breakfast & dinner tables with themed convos
🍹 Happy hour networking at ship bars
💡 Idea-sharing sessions hosted by company reps
🧪 Product demos from tech & AT vendors
🕵️‍♂️ Group scavenger hunts – one related to AAC & literacy products, one related to shore events!
