What is it that I do...
I am passionate about AAC training and implementation that includes the people who are most important- the users of AAC. I provide interactive AAC training and mentoring for clinicians, school teams, and families. My training includes users of AAC sharing their stories and interacting with participants. I enjoy facilitating AAC social & community groups for people of all ages. Our groups include AAC mentors who are lifelong AAC communicators.
Why do I do it...
So many families and clinicians are intimidated by AAC and do not know where to start. I want to help break down those barriers to AAC. Make it feel doable. I believe in scaffolding people right where they are at and helping them building meaningful connections with their children, students, and clients in activities they are already doing. I want to build a world full of empowered communication partners and reduce the isolation so many users of AAC feel.
How do I spend my free time...
I enjoy leisurely kayaking along the river, tandem bicycling with my husband and floating in the pool. I love hot weather and long summers. I enjoy cooking, hosting friends over for meals, and laughing so hard I pee my pants (just a little)! I play board games, video games and love alone time and need lots of it in order to recharge.
Why should you get in contact with me/how can I help you...
I can't wait to release the Online AAC Academy and AAC mentor program with all of you! I have been working hard to get you all access to all of the resources and amazing leaders in AAC that have been part of my journey and led me to where I am today. I want to make AAC training, education and professional development more accessible, interactive and fun!
