Brandi Wentland M.A., CCC-SLP

Brandi is a speech-language pathologist (SLP) who specializes in Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC). Brandi has a passion for working with parents who have teens on the autism spectrum in functional, meaningful and motivating activities. Brandi is passionate, energetic and is dedicated to helping children and adults overcome prompt dependency and utilize all forms of communication to make new friends, build stronger relationships and meaningful communication with their family, school team and therapists.
Brandi works in the community and homes with parents of children with autism, helping them to grow in their communication in their daily routines. These strategies are also used in our community group, Out and About East Valley https://www.facebook.com/groups/outandaboutAZ/ sponsored by TherapyOne http://www.therapyone.com/ where AAC users come together to meet new friends and utilize AAC to communicate in the community.
Brandi provides interactive workshops and resources on implementation of AAC. As well as, individualized training for parents, SLPs, OTs, PTs, BCBAs and teachers. She works collaboratively with the AAC users whole team to promote Aided Language Stimulation (ALgS) and to provide carryover with all communication partners. Brandi is an authorized continuing professional development provider in California and Arizona.
Many teenagers with autism have become prompt dependent. Brandi has a passion for helping them learn they can have their own thoughts and desires and we all want to hear them. Overcoming prompt dependency takes passion, dedication, patience and lots of modeling. It is worth every bit of our time and effort. Every child deserves to have a voice!
